Transdisciplinary residency program focused on environmental issues, landscape transformation, territories and land use. Selected participants will develop projects that discuss urgent environmental issues conceptually, culturally and artistically, working at the intersection of visual arts, science, architecture, urbanism, activism, food, design, literature, film, etc.
All artists will be invited to meet non-arts people working on the same major topics, including scientists, practitioners and farmers.

Gabriela Maciel is the founder and director of Tech Art Lab platform (since 2011), the artistic co-director and permanent curator of EV Art Residency and Largo das Artes cultural centre, Rio de Janeiro (since 2019); co-curator and embassador of The Wrong New Digital Art Biennale (since 2013); has served as curator of the Re_Act Contemporary Art Lab (2017) and of Dotmov Festival (2011-2016). Her recent curatorial projects include exhibitions, festivals, art residencies and site-specific projects: “Digital Provocateurs” with 14 young digital artists (Cidade das Artes, Rio de Janeiro, 2018); “Still Here?” with European videoartists, for (LACS, Lisbon 2018); “Matter / Non-matter” group exhibition of Latin American and European contemporary artists that participated in the immersion Re_Act in the Archipelago of the Azores, (M.A.H. Since 2012, researcher/curator Yasmine Ostendorf has been undertaking research across Asia and Europe on artists proposing alternative ways of living and working – ways that ultimately shape more sustainable, interconnected and resilient societies and peripheries. She has extensively worked on international cultural mobility programmes and on the topic of art and ecology, having worked for expert organisations such as Julie’s Bicycle (UK), Bamboo Curtain Studio (TW), Cape Farewell (UK) and Trans Artists (NL). She runs the Green Art Lab Alliance, a network of 35 cultural organisations in Europe and Asia that explores, questions, and addresses our social and environmental responsibility, and is the author of the series of guides “Creative Responses to Sustainability,” published by the Asia-Europe Foundation (SG) and the Ecologic Institute (DE). She is an associate curator for Valley of the Possible (CL), for the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World (UK), and for C-Platform (CN). Since 2017 she is the Head of the Lab for Nature Research at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht (NL) and the initiator of the Van Eyck Food Lab (2018); a research placement for an artist/chef, understanding food in the light of current ecological, social and political developments. She has been organising Food Art Film Festivals collecting, showcasing and celebrating inspiring food/art practices from across the globe and has been organising regular Reading Groups to bring together theory and practice. She writes a monthly blog for www.artistsandclimatechange.com and was in residence at CAPACETE in 2019.
